Car Servicing & Maintenance

Routine servicing is where a car is either looked after or quietly neglected. Done to the manufacturer’s schedule with the right specification of oil and filters, it is the cheapest work you will ever have done on a car.

CPA Motorworks services cars in Limassol to the manufacturer’s schedule, using oil dispensed by grade from a bulk installation rather than decanted from shop bottles. Servicing at an independent workshop does not void a manufacturer warranty in the EU, provided the schedule and the oil specification are met.

Meclube bulk oil bay — six lines, dispensed by grade

The right oil, in the right quantity

Oil is dispensed here from a bulk installation, by grade — not decanted from whatever is on the shelf. Modern engines are specific about specification, and using approximately the right oil is a slow, expensive mistake that does not announce itself for years.

We tell you what we found

A service is also an inspection. You will hear what is worn, what is starting to go, and what is fine — including the things that can wait. We are not interested in selling you work you do not need; we would rather you came back in five years than once.

Will servicing my car outside the dealer void the warranty?

No. Under EU rules a manufacturer cannot require that servicing is done at its own dealers to keep a warranty valid, provided the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses oil and parts of the correct specification. Keeping the record is what matters.

How often should I service my car?

Follow the manufacturer’s interval for the car and the way it is used. Short journeys, heavy traffic and Cyprus heat are harder on oil than motorway mileage, so a car that lives in Limassol traffic is at the demanding end of its schedule rather than the relaxed one.

What is the difference between a minor and a major service?

The manufacturer’s schedule decides. Every service changes the oil and filter and inspects the car; the larger intervals add the items that last longer, such as spark plugs, air and fuel filters, brake fluid and on some cars the gearbox fluid, so the same car alternates between the two. What your car is due is set by its mileage and age, not by which menu you pick.

Do you update the digital service record?

Yes. Modern BMW and Mercedes-Benz cars keep their service history online rather than in a booklet, and an independent workshop with the manufacturer’s diagnostic access can add each service to that record, so the history stays complete for warranty and resale.
