Air Conditioning Service & Regas

In Limassol, air conditioning is not a comfort extra. A system that has quietly lost gas over three summers does not fail dramatically — it just stops being cold, usually in the week you need it most.

CPA Motorworks services car air conditioning in Limassol on a Bosch ACS 650 station, which recovers the old refrigerant, holds the system under vacuum to prove it is not leaking, and recharges the exact weight the car calls for. Refrigerant is not consumed, so a system needing gas every summer has a leak.

Bosch ACS 650 — recovers, vacuum-tests and recharges by weight

Why weight matters

An air conditioning system holds a specific weight of refrigerant, and it works properly at that weight and not near it. Our station recovers what is in the system, holds it under vacuum to prove it is not leaking, and recharges the exact quantity your car calls for, with the correct oil. A can of gas from a shop does none of those three things.

If it has gone, it went somewhere

Refrigerant does not get used up. A system that needs regassing every summer has a leak, and refilling it every year is renting a repair rather than making one. We would rather find the leak.

Why is my air conditioning not as cold as it used to be?

Almost always because the system has lost refrigerant. The decline is gradual and easy to live with until the week you cannot.

What is R1234yf and does my car use it?

R1234yf is the refrigerant fitted to most cars built from around 2017; older cars use R134a. They are not interchangeable and they need different equipment, so it is worth knowing which your car takes before booking.

Why does the air conditioning smell when I first switch it on?

That is usually bacterial growth on a damp evaporator rather than a fault with the system, and it is dealt with separately from a regas.

Why does the air conditioning work when I am driving but not in traffic?

Because at a standstill the condenser only gets the air the fan gives it. A tired condenser fan, a condenser blocked with dirt, or a system low enough on gas that it only copes with the extra airflow of driving all produce the same symptom, and they need a diagnosis, not a regas.
